Studio Policies

1. Lesson Commitment

Regular weekly lessons are essential for steady progress. By enrolling in lessons, students commit to consistent attendance and regular practice. Studio enrollment is ongoing unless proper notice is given (see Withdrawal Policy).

2. Tuition & Payment

• Tuition is based on a reserved weekly lesson time, not on attendance.

• Tuition is due monthly in advance.

• Payment is due by the first lesson of each month.

• Late payments may result in suspension of lessons until payment is received.

Accepted payment methods: (e.g., check, Zelle, Venmo, cash).

3. Attendance & Cancellations

• A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for lesson cancellations.

• Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for makeup or credit.

• Missed lessons due to illness, travel, school events, or other conflicts are considered the student’s responsibility.

• Teacher-canceled lessons will be made up or credited.

4. Makeup Lessons

• Makeup lessons are offered at the teacher’s discretion and subject to availability.

• Makeup lessons must be scheduled within the same month and cannot be carried forward.

• No more than one makeup lesson per month is allowed.

5. Practice Expectations

Regular practice is essential for success.

• Beginners: 20–30 minutes per day

• Intermediate students: 30–60 minutes per day

• Advanced students: 60+ minutes per day

Students are expected to come to lessons prepared, with music, violin, bow, shoulder rest, rosin, and a notebook.

6. Parental Involvement (for young students)

Parents of young students are encouraged to:

• Attend lessons

• Assist with home practice

• Help establish a consistent practice routine

Parental support plays a key role in a child’s progress.

7. Instrument & Materials

• Students must have a properly sized violin in good condition.

• Rental or purchase recommendations can be provided upon request.

• Students are responsible for purchasing required music books and materials.

8. Performances, Exams & Auditions

Students are encouraged to participate in:

• Studio recitals

• Orchestra auditions

• MTAC Certificate of Merit exams

• Summer programs and workshops

Participation supports musical growth and performance confidence.

9. Studio Calendar & Holidays

Lessons follow the studio calendar.

• No lessons on major holidays.

• Studio breaks will be announced in advance.

10. Withdrawal Policy

• A minimum of 30 days’ written notice is required to discontinue lessons.

• Tuition is due during the notice period, regardless of attendance.

• No refunds are given for early withdrawal.

11. Respect & Studio Etiquette

Students and parents are expected to:

• Arrive on time

• Communicate respectfully

• Maintain a positive learning environment

Repeated disruptive behavior or lack of cooperation may result in termination of lessons.

12. Agreement

Enrollment in lessons indicates acceptance of all studio policies.
