Our teaching approach is structured, individualized, and makes every student feel supported. Emphasis is placed from the very beginning on building a solid foundation and strong fundamentals working on things like posture, efficient technique, tone production, and accurate rhythm. Whether you want to pass a musical exam or audition, or simply want to pick up the violin for fun, we will help you improve at violin and achieve your goals.

Yang's Violin Journey

Yang Xu is a professional violinist and dedicated music educator with over 20 years of teaching experience in the Bay Area. She has worked with students ranging from age 5 to over 60 years old. Yang is known for her structured yet supportive teaching style, emphasizing strong technical foundations, musical expression, and individualized instruction.

Ms. Xu graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 1998, earning a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in Violin Performance. She later continued her advanced musical training in the United States, receiving a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In addition, Yang received her Suzuki teacher training from 2003 to 2017 with mentors Edmund Sprunger, Yuko Honda, Joseph Kaminsky, Cathryn Lee, and Ann Montzka Smelser. She is also a current member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Throughout her teaching career, Ms. Xu has successfully guided students to achieve placements in prestigious programs, including the California Youth Symphony Orchestra, California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA) Honor String Orchestra, Fremont Youth Orchestra, and the Suzuki Advanced Institute at Stanford. Her students have also earned strong results in the Certificate of Merit examinations throughout the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC).

Ms. Xu welcomes students of all levels-from beginner and intermediate violinists to advanced performers-and is passionate about nurturing both technical excellence and a lifelong love of music.
